The 'In Steps' versions are edits of a collection of postal tape loops, that travelled back and forth between Belfast & Munich in 2020. Initially there was no real plan for these other than it being an exploratory & fun activity. When T.Jervell brought the loop tape & tea project to us we knew that they had a found a new purpose.

After enjoying the pre-recorded loop with your tea, we would like to encourage you, if possible, to record over the tape with another loop from the digital release. Explore the nooks and crannies of all the spring loops.

The tea provided with the cassette is Yu Qian Mogan from Mo Gan Shan, Zhejiang, China. This tea is picked and made in spring. The name Yu Qian means before the Grain Rain Festival (which is between April 5 to April 20. Yu Qian has a light and fresh flavour, with tastes of cucumber and hints of herbs. The aftertaste with hints of cinnamon seeds.

The year passes. Seasons come and go.
An endless cycle. An endless loop.

Each tape is released in an edition of 8.
Each tape contains 2 minutes of audio.
The native Sami musical expression is called a Yoik.
A Yoik has no beginning or end.
Inspired by the idea of a story with no beginning or end,
the tapes (and thus the music contained on the tape)
have no beginning nor end.
They’ll play in an endless loop, for as long as the listener wants to.

There will also be tea. Loose leaf tea.
Representing nature and the changing of seasons.
To brew and enjoy while listening to the cassette.

There will be digital versions available
The form and function of these digital representations
will vary according to each artists’ vision.
